Dr. Garrett is a Board certified diagnostic radiologist who has a special interest in pediatric radiology. She is one of only four physicians in Central Florida who have earned the Certificate of Added Qualifications in pediatric radiology. She served her residency in diagnostic radiology at the University Hospital of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in a combined program with Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinati. She then continued in a fellowship in pediatric radiology at Children's Hospital.

Dr. Garrett served as the 1996 Chair of the Florida Board of Medicine and is currently Chair of the Bylaws Committee of the Federation of State Medical Boards. She also was selected to participate in the 1996-97 Class XV of Leadership Florida, a subsidiary of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. She has given several scientific presentations on pediatric neuroradiology at national conferences, and she is a member of numerous general and specialty societies.
