A good partner offers a broad range of products and services.

It goes without saying that we offer all the general diagnostic radiological skills you would expect from a radiology group. We interpret and consult on routine x-rays, ultrasound, CAT scans and MRI studies, and we also provide angiography and interventional radiology services.

The important question is: what sets us apart? What do we offer that is not available from most other radiology groups?

Pediatric radiology

Our five subspecialized pediatric radiologists are all certified by the ACR, and we provide service at the only pediatric hospital in Central Florida.

We also offer:

  • Dedicated x-ray, CAT scan and MRI for children
  • Pediatric nurses available in the x-ray department for sedation
  • Neonatal and pediatric intensive care radiology services

High-risk obstetric ultrasound

The Hughes Center for Fetal Diagnostics offers a dedicated specialty team, consisting of our highly skilled radiologists, a perinatologist and a genetic counselor, all in one convenient location. The Center performs amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling for early detection of birth defects, using the latest ultrasound equipment and highly trained, subspecialized ultrasound technologists

Trauma and emergency radiology

We offer the only 24-hour in-house radiology service, and we staff the only Level I Trauma Center in Central Florida.

We also offer:

  • Special ultra-fast CAT scans, ultrasound and x-ray in the ER for trauma patients - which saves time and cost of transporting patients
  • Film reading and report generation directly in the ER x-ray department - for fast turnaround time

Angio-interventional radiology

Four of our radiologists have subspecialized in this field, which provides diagnosis and treatment for certain problems that would otherwise require surgery. Because they are highly trained and skilled and because they perform a great number of these procedures, these specialists have a very high level of experience and expertise. In addition, they use the most modern technology available, including specialized digital equipment to reduce both the time required for the exam and the amount of injected contrast.

Procedures include:

  • Percutaneous biopsy under x-ray guidance anywhere in the body, including the brain
  • Percutaneous drainage of abscesses and fluid collections
  • Percutaneous occlusion and chemo-embolization to stop hemorrhaging or bleeding vessels
  • Injection of anticoagulants into arteries and veins to dissolve blockages (blood clots)
  • Injection of clotting agents into blood vessels of tumors to stop bleeding and kill cells
  • Angioplasty or dilatation of narrowed blood vessels anywhere in the body
  • Placement of intravascular devices for treatment of vessel occulsions and placement of vena cava filters

Neuroradiology

Our neuroradiologists participate in a city-wide monthly conference with neurosurgeons, neurologists and neuropathologists to share interesting case material and expertise in diagnosis and treatment.

We also offer:

  • Subspecialty radiologists with additional training in neuroradiology.
  • Three high-field MRIs with MRA capability and ultra-fast scanning, and one open MRI.
  • Neuroangiography to evaluate vessels in the brain
  • Percutaneous brain biopsy in conjunction with radiosurgery team at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando

Support Services

You expect excellent service from a partner - and that's what you get when you work with our practice.

This also includes:

  • 24-hour turnaround for reports
  • Auto fax to offices
  • Teleradiology for consultation

In addition, our close working relationship with local orthopaedic groups helps us schedule patient appointments quickly and easily.

Our services include:

  • Dedicated musculoskeletal MRI coils for specialized imaging of all joints of the body
  • Percutaneous biopsies of tumors and infections
  • Arthrography - evaluation of joints using contrast materials
  • Fluoroscopy of joints - real time images of joints during motion to look for instability and malalignment
